I am receiving the following error when building my TDS projects with TFS.

Error : Sitecore Deploy Folder not set. Cannot install the connector for item deployment.

In the project I have the following settings:

<PropertyGroup Condition=" '$(Configuration)' == 'QA' ">
    <OutputPath>.\bin\QA\</OutputPath>
    <DisableFileDeployment>True</DisableFileDeployment>
    <EnableValidations>False</EnableValidations>
    <LightningDeployMode>False</LightningDeployMode>
    <InstallSitecoreConnector>False</InstallSitecoreConnector>
  </PropertyGroup>

DisableFileDeployment and InstallSitecoreConnector are set correctly, however the project still tries to build and deploy. How can I stop that from happening?

  • Have you validated that the configuration is passed in correctly? Do the logs show what values are being passed in from your build definition? – Jason St-Cyr May 22 '18 at 18:38
  • Are these configuration parameters visible from the TFS build logs? I did a search for InstallSitecoreConnector and didn't see anything. I'll update the main post about my logs. – uioporqwerty May 22 '18 at 18:40
  • If you set the InstallSitecoreConnector to true, does it work? – Hishaam Namooya May 22 '18 at 18:52

    Did you try setting SitecoreWebUrl and SitecoreDeployFolder to empty as well? sitecore.stackexchange.com/a/2028/135 – jammykam May 22 '18 at 19:27

In my case, the environment dropdown list in the Visual Studio 2015 toolbar was not set to the proper deploy environment. Once set to the correct environment, I was able to Sync with Sitecore and build/deploy successfully.
