For automated deployment to CM and CD Azure VM Servers, I am using Azure DevOps. I need to deploy artifacts over clean environment everytime. That means each time before deployment, I need to delete existing root folder, create a fresh installation and then deploy the artifacts over that. Can anybody please suggest the recommended practices to do that?

Thanks in Advance!

I'd use Web Deploy and have either a 2nd repo managing the sitecore base code for CM and CD which you then add your custom app code on top of, zip up and web deploy (which does update/add/remove to ensure you only get what's in your web deploy package) or some kind of variation of this.

  • Thanks @dave. I got an idea from your answer. Can I use the content folder that comes under the scwdp.zip package of sitecore installation kit, zip it up and keep it in my repo. Then, during release pipeline, deploy it first and then the rest of the code and tds package? – NewbieHere Dec 6 '19 at 10:20
  • Yeah @NewbieHere, this is what I'm doing and it works nicely :) – Dave Goosem Dec 6 '19 at 12:37
