I got an answer from Sitecore support (see below). It indeed has todo with the order submission pipeline and that an outcome hasn't been registrered. After enabling the TriggerOrderOutcome processor the Orders tab in the Experience Profile shows orders as result.

Multiple sites cannot share the same catalog in Sitecore as the catalog will only be indexed in one location and the other sites will not recognize catalog content outside their own site area. You can use a Postman script to clone an existing catalog if you want the same products on multiple storefronts.
Using minions in sitecore commerce, create minion block where we can get all the products from catalog and added them to the list and convert that list to json using serialization.
