Apr 27, 2017 at 18:16 comment added Teeknow Yeah that sounds spot on to me. Putting it that way it probably makes sense to make a treelist field for the items to ignore rather than the ones to select but any alternate solutions would be appreciated. I still like the idea of using a more flexible field than trying to build my own query like this because I'd like to give the content editors the flexibility to say they want everything but product B or they only want product B.
Apr 27, 2017 at 14:54 comment added Adam Seabridge Ok so to clarify let me run through an example. If the list control lists a bunch of items - lets say these are based on a 'product' template and are products. And you want the content editor to easily select product A,C & D but not product B without having to explicitly pick A, C and D from the list?. Ideally you want them to be able to say 'Get everything but B' and then A, C and D would all be selected but not B. Is that right?
Apr 26, 2017 at 17:42 comment added Teeknow I think you're misinterpreting what I'm doing for now vs what I want to do. I want the content editors to have the flexibility in this field to write something that says "choose everything but this" instead of having to manually select everything but the item that they want to exclude.
Apr 26, 2017 at 14:52 comment added Adam Seabridge I'm not sure what you mean by this. You want content editors to be able to filter out content when filling in an items details in Sitecore? Isn't this more about ensuring you are setting this field up correctly so the fields list doesn't show items it shouldn't to content editors ? If so then just using the exclude and include options to filter in/out items for a certain template should do the job.
Apr 25, 2017 at 14:29 comment added Teeknow Would a content editor be able to exclude a specific item of the correct template type with this method?
